Catching bass in Florida from my kayak with ultralight gear. I this video I caught my biggest largemouth of 2019 to date and lost an absolute giant. This was an epic early morning adventure that produced some solid fish that were all caught while fishing with plastic stick bait worms. This particular spot where I took the kayak is called "The Deep Hole". Certain times of the year bass get piled up in this location and when they are feeding generally the hits come one right after the other.

Here are the specifications for the rod, line and reel I was using:
1. 6 lb. test line
2. Shimano FX 200 reel
3. Shimano Convergence 6' 6" rod
I'm really getting hooked on fishing for bass with really light gear. All of my life I've used no less than twelve pound test line for largemouths in Florida. Just last year I started using lighter line and smaller rods and reels. I am loving the new experience. I honestly don't see the fun in water skying a bass across the top of the water with fifty pound braided line while using a BROOM stick of a rod with a ultra high gear ratio reel anymore. It's a real challenge to land a bass with light line and small gear.
